TLC Whole Life Food

Dog Food– This is the exact food we feed our pups and something you will need to buy and feed your pup. In fact, we are so “in love” with this food that we require it’s usage as part of our LIFETIME warranty. Our pups love the taste and they contain very little preservatives since you buy directly from TLC and not a pet store. For our warranty we require “Auto-Shipping.” It allows us to know you are continually feeding your pup TLC. A 30 lb order of TLC will have 90 cups (8 ounce cups) of food. You also will get $5 off your first order and free shipping for life. To order TLC you can click HERE. While TLC Puppy Food works great for most of our puppies, we do have special cases. Please verify with us that TLC is the best option for your puppy before purchasing your food. For dogs under 1 year of age, we feed “Puppy” Formula. For dogs above 1 year of age we feed the adult formula. To know how much food to order please check out our average Autoship ordering cycle for the following breeds. This is the average and it can change as your pups grow. To read how to know how much to feed your pup click HERE.

  1. Labrador Retrievers, Bernese Mountain Dogs- 5 Cups Per Day or 1 Bag every 18 days
  2. Standard Bernedoodles and Standard Sheepadoodles- 4 Cups Per Day or 1 Bag every 22 days
  3. Golden Retrievers, Standard Labradoodles & Cavapoos – 3 Cups Per Day or 1 Bag every 30 days
  4. Miniature Sheepadoodles, Miniature Labradoodles, Miniature Bernedoodles- 2.25 Cups Per Day or 1 Bag every 40 days
  5. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cavachons, Malti-poos- 1.5 Cups Per Day or 1 Bag every 50 days

NuVet and NuJoint Supplements

NuVet Plus & NuJoint– We know NuVet/NuJoint isn’t the cure-all but we believe that it helps tremendously to fill the gap between the necessary nutrition for a pup and what pet foods provide. Therefore we made the decision to extend the warranty from 1 year to LIFETIME if you continue to buy NuVet/NuJoint. You will order NuVet & NuJoint directly from them. You can order from them by calling NuVet and giving them our breeder ID#85927. You could also just click on the following link and it will insert our breeder ID in the order (you will not see our breeder ID anywhere if you click on the link but it does put it in your order for us to see). Again, we highly recommend going with Autoship so you don’t ever run out and it saves your 15%- HERE . In fact, for our additional LIFETIME warranty we now require auto shipping along with auto shipping our food

NuVet Plus K9 Wafers – give 1 wafer (multivitamin) every day to your pup for entire life. (Comes 90 to a bottle)

NuJoint Plus –  give according to weight chart for joint health. Depending on their size will let you know how many NuJoint wafers you give per day. We do not recommend NuJoint DS. That’s double strength and for dogs with arthritis. (Comes 180 to a bottle)

Dog Crate

Wired Crate – Every puppy needs to have a crate for the puppy/dog to sleep in or be in when you are not around. We highly encourage you to continue to crate train your pup until they are at least 1 year of age or have proven themselves trustworthy.  An appropriately sized crate provides enough room to lay down and turn around. A divider is necessary or you need to buy many different crate sizes to grow with them. The crate that we use can be found HEREDepending on the size of your puppy and breed will determine the size of the crate. We personally always buy for a full size adult dog and then use the divider for a pup. Make sure never to put a pup in a large crate without a divider or you will encourage potty accidents. They should only have enough room to circle and lay especially at the beginning with younger pups.

Dog Cot

Kuranda Dog Cot – As you have seen probably in many videos, we use a dog cot for the command “Place.” It’s very handy because they are super durable, easy to clean, can get wet and are light and can be taken to different places and moved. They also come with a 1 year warranty so if they do break or get chewed, Kuranda will replace them. They will also donate 5% of your order to the Canine Warrior Connection if you order with the following link: HERE .

Monthly Care

Flea and Tick Medicine we have used many products in the past and for us the best that works is k9 Advantix II. It is a topical product that you put on your pup once a month. Frontline Plus does not work for us in regards to fleas. Trifexis, Comfortis & the new Bravecto are oral medicines but there have been many negative articles written on those. We HIGHLY recommend not using any flea/tick medicine that you give orally. We have had two of our pups DIE from being given Bravecto.  We have three other pups that have had life altering side effects from oral flea and tick medication. ONLY use flea/tick medicine you administer topically like k9Advantix II, Revolution, Advantage Multi. Our warranty will not cover any issues or death caused by giving your pup oral flea/tick prevention.

Heartworm Preventative – if you have a lot of mosquitos and the worry for heartworm than you should probably seriously look at having your pup and adult on heartworm preventative. We use HeartGuard (ivermectin) monthly for our adults as it has the longest track record and works for us. You do need a prescription for this.

Grooming

1. Pet Shampoo – The shampoo that we use and love can be found HERE
2. Ear Treatment – Regular ear treatment is important to keep away ear infections. The ear cleaner we use can be found HERE
3. Nail Clippers – The best one we have found to use are “plyer-style” clippers like THESE
4. Brushes
    a. For general brushing and smoothing of the coat we like slicker brushes like THIS
    b. For pulling out small “pin knots” we use a metal comb like THIS
    c. To remove undercoat we use a rake like THIS
4. Dryer– For a faster drying experience after a bath you can use a forced air dryer like THIS

Leash & Collar

1. Collar – We will send your pup home with a training lead that serves as a collar leash combo while the puppy is wearing it. However, a regular flat collar will be helpful for holding ID tags. You may find that you need multiple collars to accommodate growth in your pup. We recommend waiting until your pup is home to purchase a collar to ensure the best fit possible. Use the training lead until your pup gets home and then get your pup fitted. Remember as a young pup they will grow dramatically.

2. Leash – we use a 4 foot training lead when we train our pups. We will be giving you the exact leash we use in training. We do recommend as your pup gets older to use a similar slip leash. The one that the trainers use and recommend can be found HERE. For a long training lead for extensive training try this one HERE.

Toys & Treats

1. Chew Toys – We highly recommend not buying chew toys that are soft and digestible. We have unfortunately have seen many pups (especially mouthy breeds like Goldens) need surgery for swallowing a fabric toy and getting stuck. We have even had a couple pass away after the surgery. So we now only purchase toys that are “indestructible” as much as possible. Some of the favorites for the pups here are listed here: DOUBLE BONEJACKX-BONEBALL,  GORILLAWISHBONE , and STICK.

2. Treats –  Treats in excess will cause extreme weight gain and would lead to many unwanted problems. We do want a treat though that the puppies really love for training. In our training program, we use cut up chicken or turkey hot dogs. We know they are not “healthy” but we have tried every treat on the market and pups do not like any of them as much as that treat and for our training program, we want our pups HIGHLY motivated. But please realize you have to be very careful with giving treats. Only give treats at the beginning and give sparingly. These are “snickers bars” for your dogs and are not healthy. Any treat you give should be soft and quickly digested. Here are a couple store bought treats that work as well as chicken or turkey hot dogs (Please note not to buy beef or pork hotdogs…they get diarrhea). Some treats that we recommend are: Training Treats, Crate Treats.. e
